Welcome to today’s episode where I’ll be sharing how hypnotherapy can help improve heart health with a focus on prevention, and we’ll be looking at how hypnotherapy can help reduce your risk factors easily and naturally.
Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in Australia with around 48,000 Australians losing their lives from this disease each year. In fact, one in six Australians is affected by cardiovascular disease, making it a significant public health concern.
But that isn’t going to happen to you because the good news is that hypnotherapy is a scientifically researched and proven method to improve heart health. Studies by the Heart Foundation show that heart disease risk factors can be managed and improved by making lifestyle changes and hypnotherapy can help achieve these changes in a substantial and effective way.
Hypnotherapy can be an effective tool for preventing heart disease, reducing your health risk factors And this is what we’re focusing on today. Risk factors in heart health include stress, sleep, smoking, anxiety, hypertension, namely, high blood pressure, and obesity or being overweight. Risk factors can also be reduced by managing blood pressure, by managing blood sugar levels and by improving your motivation to exercise.
So that’s quite a lot of high risk factors that clinical hypnotherapy is known to be able to help you with. But what can you do? We all know the importance of exercise, eating well, and getting a lot of sleep. But sometimes these lifestyle factors can be difficult to achieve, change, or even harder to maintain.
But that’s where hypnotherapy or hypnosis comes in. Hypnotherapy is a scientifically proven and research method for improving your health. And in particular risk factors in heart health. Your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and habits all have an impact on your physical and mental well-being, including your heart health, becoming aware and learning that you can take back control of your habits and lifestyle choices and make sustained new healthy choice is the key to health improvement.

Today I’ll give you a brief overview of some of the large body of scientific research that supports hypnotherapy and how significantly hypnotherapy can help you improve your heart health.
Let’s start with sleep, stress and smoking. Hypnotherapy for sleep can potentially reduce the risk of developing heart disease by improving sleep quality and reducing stress levels, both known risk factors for cardiovascular disease. A study published in the International Journal of Behavioral Medicine found that hypnotherapy was effective in improving sleep quality and improving stress levels in healthy adults.
A study also found that participants who received hypnotherapy had lower levels of cortisol, the hormone associated with stress, than those who did not receive hypnotherapy. Another study found that hypnotherapy was effective in reducing anxiety and improving sleep quality in healthy adults. This study also found that hypnotherapy was associated with a reduction in heart rate, which is a key indicator for cardiovascular disease.
Hypnotherapy can help you to quit smoking. There’s quite a lot of information around, and I think hypnotherapy is quite popular as a method to quit smoking. There’s been many trials that have proved that hypnotherapy, people who receive hypnotherapy for smoking cessation, decreased their blood pressure and improved their lipid profiles, which are also important factors to support the reduction in heart disease risk factors.
There’s a lot more information about hypnotherapy and quit smoking and the impact of that on heart disease. Hypnotherapy can help you manage stress and reduce the negative impact of stress on overall health including heart health and there was a research study done in the Australian Journal of Clinical Diagnosis which found that patients who received hypnotherapy to reduce stress had significant improvements in their cardiovascular health, reducing blood pressure and heart rate.
And when it comes to anxiety, hypnotherapy can be used to help individuals manage anxiety and reduce the negative impact that it has on overall health and in particular reducing heart rate. Lots of people come to see me to reduce their levels of stress and anxiety and we have significant reduction in both short term and long term results so that people can learn to manage their stress states and their anxiety by themselves easily and effortlessly.
Obesity or being overweight. One of my most passionate hypnotherapy topics. Did you know that about 80% of my thriving business comes from helping people reduce their weight? And the results that I see are truly remarkable. I love to see the impact of weight reduction, the health markers for heart, blood sugar, thyroid, cholesterol, but also other types of indicators such as the ability to move more freely, to be more agile, to have a better self-image, improve vitality and so many, many more positive impacts.
But also reducing weight as we know has a significant impact on reducing the risk factors for heart health.
Hypnotherapy can be used to address the underlying psychological factors that contribute to overeating and weight gain and also the emotional eating and body image. There was a significant study done in the European Journal of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation that found that patients who received hypnotherapy for weight loss had significant improvements in their cardiovascular health including reductions in blood pressure, cholesterol levels and other risk factors for heart disease.
By managing blood pressure, hypnotherapy can be used to help individuals manage their blood pressure through relaxation techniques, through stress reduction and through the aggravating factors. But I’ll be talking more about this in the upcoming podcast later in this month, all about reducing your blood pressure specifically.
Type 2 diabetes. Hypnotherapy can be used to help individuals manage their blood sugar levels and reduce their risk factors. The risk factors of developing complications relating to diabetes which can also impact on hard health. By creating positive new lifestyle changes such as adopting a healthier diet and engaging in physical activity, people with type 2 diabetes can change their mindset and become much more positive about adopting these changes easily and effortlessly.
A study in the clinical experimental hypnosis journal, the International Journal, found that individuals with type 2 diabetes improve their blood sugar level control and reduce their risk of cardiovascular complications. The study also found that participants who received hypnotherapy had lower levels of a marker for blood sugar control than those who did not receive hypnotherapy. And the Journal of Clinical Psychology found that hypnotherapy was effective in promoting weight loss and reducing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in overweight and obese individuals.
And last but not least physical activity. Hypnotherapy can be used to motivate individuals, each one of us in particular, to exercise regularly to improve our heart health and reduce the risk factors of heart disease. There are lots of people who come to see me to improve their enjoyment of physical activity and it’s quite positive to see the remarkable change that can be made when the conscious and the subconscious mind are working together to achieve these new habits of physical activity and in fact people seem to enjoy the whole idea of getting ready for physical activity when they’ve had hypnosis because of the positive suggestions that they now enjoy to support them and their increase in physical activity.
And so today was my plan to give you the overview of hypnotherapy and how there’s plenty of research out there to support how you can be supported to improve your heart health. Easily, naturally and with a minimum of effort, you do however need to have compelling reasons and when it comes to your heart health, surely this would be a compelling reason.
But how does it work? Through hypnotherapy, we work with your subconscious mind to discover the underlying reasons for your habits and behaviours. And we work to reprogram any negative thought patterns or behaviours and replace them with positive, healthy behaviours.
I work with you one to one so that I genuinely understand what sits behind these old attitudes and behaviours. And we can learn to create or recreate that body mind connection so that you can become aware of how your emotions inform and impact your body. We can help to calm your demeanor, reduce your stress levels, manage your emotions in healthy ways. And by doing this, we will significantly be able to reduce the risk factors of heart disease and to promote a healthy heart.
